Help with FAFSA forms available

College financial-aid professionals will be volunteering to assist college-bound students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the following area locations:
† Ivy Tech Community College-East Chicago Campus, 410 E. Columbus Drive
† Purdue University Academic Learning Center, 9900 Connecticut Drive, Merrillville
† Indiana University Northwest, 3400 Broadway, Gary, Hawthorn Hall
† Purdue University Calumet, 2200 169th St., Hammond, Lawshe Hall 130

The FAFSA is required for students to be considered for federal and state grants, loans and scholarships at most colleges, universities and vocational-technical schools nationwide and must be filed by March 10 to be eligible for state aid.
Students should attend College Goal Sunday with their parent(s) or guardian(s) and bring their parents’ completed 2011 IRS 1040 tax returns, W-2 forms and other 2011 income and benefits information.
Students who worked last year should bring their income information.
Students 24 years of age or older may attend alone and bring their own completed 2011 IRS 1040 tax return, W-2 form or other 2011 income and benefits information.
Students and parents may apply for their U.S. Department of Education personal identification numbers at www.pin.ed.gov before coming to the event.
