Youth groups conduct scholarship ball

The Xinos and Kudos youth groups, sponsored by Phi Delta Kappa sorority, recently held their annual scholarship ball to raise funds for college scholarships and to cover expenses for attendance at the Xinos-Kudos Midwestern Regional Conference.
Fourteen Xinos and seven Kudos hosted the ball, whose theme was “Share My Life.”
Two senior Xinos, Angelique Parrott of Thea Bowman Leadership Academy and Taylr Davis of Bishop Noll Institute, received plaques and bouquets of flowers in their school colors for four years of service to the group. Senior first-year members Rayna Robinson of Hammond High and LaShiona Young of Merrillville High School received bouquets of their school colors.
Kudos senior Wayman Wright of West Side Leadership Academy was presented a plaque for four years of service.
Ayanna Hudson, a sophomore at Wirt-Emerson Visual and Performing Arts Academy, was crowned Ms. Xinos. The runner-up was Aaliyah Williams, a freshman at Merrillville. Don Taylor, a junior at Merrillville, was crowned King Kudos, and Brandon Boatner, a Thea Bowman freshman, was runner-up.
