Church ministry needs donations

CEDAR LAKE — The Project Love Food Pantry needs donations.

Project Love Food Pantry is a ministry of the Cedar Lake United Methodist Church and has met the needs of thousands of families for more than 20 years.

With growing demand and a decrease in donations, Project Love’s shelves are almost empty. The pantry has been providing food, paper goods, personal care items and cleaning supplies for about 60 families per week. During a recent week, 73 families came to Project Love for help.

Robert Carnahan, Cedar Lake United Methodist Church’s administrative council chairman and a volunteer who works at the pantry weekly, said he never has seen the shelves so empty.

Donations of nonperishable items, including canned goods, pasta, rice and cereal, plus personal-care items such as toilet paper, facial soap, deodorant and shampoo, are always needed.

Donations may be dropped off at the Cedar Lake United Methodist Church, 7124 W. 137th Place, or at the Cedar Lake Town Hall, 7408 Constitution Ave.

Financial contributions can be made by mailing a check payable to the Cedar Lake United Methodist Church with “Project Love” on the memo line.

For more information, call the church at 374-7312.
