Updated: February 14, 2012 12:59PM

South Shore Arts will begin its spring term of classes the week of March 12 at its locations in Munster, Crown Point and Hammond.

Classes include a variety of preschool, children’s and adult classes including drawing, painting, collage, manga, photography (35mm and digital), colored pencil, pottery, cartooning, mixed media, and Photoshop levels I and II. South Shore Arts also offers children’s workshops at all three locations.

At the Munster venue, classes meet in art studios on the lower level of The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road. Classes generally run 10 weeks during spring. Prices vary, depending on length of class and supplies.

The Crown Point branch, 123 N. Main St., offers classes in pottery, drawing, collage, fantasy drawing, Japanese art, painting and various children’s and adult classes. There are many one-day workshops also being offered for children.

SSA’s Hammond site, Substation No. 9, 435 Fayette St., offers classes in painting, drawing, Photoshop levels I and II, airbrushing, a senior art workshop and more.

A cooperative relationship with the city of Hammond allows all Hammond residents taking classes at Substation No. 9 to pay half price. Proof of residency is required upon registration.

Register by Feb. 23 and save 10 percent on most classes. Discounts also apply for South Shore Arts members on most classes.

For more information or to register, call the SSA office at (219) 836-1839, Ext. 103. Munster office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Also visit the SSA website at www.south
