Community Hospital librarian Joan Zivich has been named to the Medical Library Association’s Hospital Libraries Section Scroll of Exemplary Service. The award will be presented during the HLS business meeting May 18-23 in Seattle.

Librarian members selected for this award have made a difference in advancing the cause of hospital librarianship over the previous year through leadership, publishing and service or management of special projects and events. Zivich has been the medical librarian at Community Hospital in Munster since 1987.

In December, she was appointed to the Project Advisory Committee for the National Library of Medicine and American Academy of Pediatrics.

The committee was formed to improve access to public health information and use of medicine during a national crisis to better meet children’s needs.
