Summer reading: The Crown Point Community Library will kick off its annual event with a visit from astronaut Jerry Ross at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the First United Methodist Church, 352 S. Main St. Call 663-2070 for more information.

Lions install officers: New officers of the Valparaiso Lions Club will be installed during the dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, in the Pines Village Retirement Village conference room, 3303 Pines Village Circle. Summer arts and music festival: The event begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, with a reception at Indiana University Northwest, 3400 Broadway, in the Savannah Center. Music on the lawn follows from 4 to 5 p.m. Guests should bring lawn chairs or blankets.
