Firecracker 5K Run/ Walk: The Firecracker 5K Run/Noncompetitive Walk begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at Omni Health & Fitness, 810 Michael Drive. Race-day registration begins at 6 a.m. Participants must complete a waiver on race day if not completed in advance; arrive early to complete waivers on race day. Magic for kids at the library: Kids signed up for the library’s “Dream Big: Read!” summer reading program won’t want to miss the fun provided by magician Chris Kocek at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the DeMotte branch of the Jasper County Public Library, 901 Birch St. SW.
