Festival runs July 26-29 at St. John the Evangelist

ST. JOHN — St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish will host its annual festival, “Food * Family * Fun,” from Thursday, July 26, to Sunday, July 29.
The event includes food, nightly entertainment, carnival rides, children’s games, bingo and a $10,000 raffle.
Hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday, 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, 3 p.m. to midnight Saturday, and 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday.
Thursday Night Tropic Fest will include Pan Go Steel Band and Aloha Chicago. Friday night features a performance by Nicole Jamrose and, on Saturday, The Crawpuppies perform. On Sunday, the fest closes with the rock band Evolution.
Friday is carnival wristband night. Wristbands are available at the St. John Strack & Van Til, 9825 Wicker Ave. (U.S. 41), for $10 through July 26.
Sunday is the 5K + Family Fun Run. Registration is available at www.stjohnparish.org.
Texas Hold ’em tournaments will start at 7 p.m. Thursday and Saturday in the air-conditioned gym. A gambling “casino” will be in the big tent alongside the beer garden.
The festival is on the SJE school grounds. 9400 Wicker Ave. (corner of 93rd Avenue and U.S. 41).
Free shuttle bus service will operate from the former K-Mart parking lot at 9550 Wicker Ave. on Friday and Saturday.
