UNIVERSITY PARK — Sculptures by Jason Walker, an art teacher at Serena Hills School in Chicago Heights, recently were on exhibit at the Visual Arts Gallery at Governors State University.

Walker’s graduate thesis show, titled “Taxidermy of Thought,” refers to the process of transforming the images in his thoughts to a state of preserved existence through sculpture and by using mixed materials.

Walker is an award-winning modeler and artist. He has been with Flossmoor School District 161 since 1998 and encourages his students in a creative and supportive classroom environment, district officials said.

He began working on his graduate degree in sculpture in 2009.
