Kiwanis K9 Golf Outing: The Chesterton-Duneland Kiwanis K9 Golf Outing starts at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start Monday, Sept. 10, at the Brassie Golf Course, 1110 Pearson Road. Register for Y-Care: Registration for before- and after-school child care, Y-Care, at the Portage Township YMCA, is open for the 2012-2013 school year. The YMCA is incorporating its LAUNCH program for the second year as a proactive approach to address the rise in child obesity. With funding from the United Way of Porter County, LAUNCH will allow each child in the school-age care program to eat fresh fruits and vegetables for a snack after school at least three days per week.
