Party in the Park: The Duneland Chamber of Commerce is hosting the seventh annual Party in the Park from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Thomas Centennial Park. The evening features a potluck from local restaurants, live entertainment, dancing, children’s activities, beer garden and more. Admission is $5 for adults, and free for children up to age 7.

Annual picnic: The annual picnic of the Croatian Sons Lodge 170 of the Croatian Fraternal Union is planned from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at the Croatian Center, 8550 Taft St. Tamburitza music will be provided. Bake sale items include homemade strudels, pastries and palachinke.

International Homeless Animals Day: The Kibble Kitchen Pet Pantry, LakeShore Paws and CPR Fund Rescue and Adoption are hosting an awareness day for homeless animals from 4 p.m. to dusk, Saturday, Aug. 18, at Countryside Park, 5250 East U.S. 6.
