Crete woman, 90, reunites with family

Sarah Powers, a resident of St. James Manor and Villas in Crete, was the guest of honor recently during an international family reunion at Caldwell Woods in Chicago. More than 100 people attended.

Powers, who, at 90 years old, is the matriarch of her family, said she always has had a place in her heart for her family.

“Family is the essence of joy,” she said. “We must cherish one another and never forget to stay in touch.”

Kathy Stein, director of resident activities, accompanied Powers.

“She had a smile on her face that could light up the world as we drove to the reunion.” Stein said.

Susan Williams, Powers’ daughter, arranged for her mother to attend the reunion to reminisce with relatives from Switzerland, Texas, California, Illinois, Hawaii and Michigan.
