Credit lessons: Employees of Centier Bank are available to teach students at local high schools the do’s and don’ts of credit to mark National Get Smart About Credit Day, which is Thursday, Oct. 18. Centier bankers will make presentations during October and November geared toward teens and including information on obtaining and managing credit, reading a credit report effectively, why a good credit record is so important, how budgeting now can help avoid credit problems later, and how to protect financial information from identity theft. To schedule a credit presentation, contact Michelle Maravilla at the Centier Learning Center, 755-6120, Ext. 1814, or mmaravil@centier.net.
CROWN POINT
Wishes granted: CARSTAR Auto Body Repair Experts of Northwest Indiana recently held a charity golf outing benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana–Indiana Region at Youche Country Club in Crown Point. The event generated $18,000 to grant three wishes. The first wish was for Matt, an 8-year-old boy from Hobart whose wish was to visit Florida theme parks. Jacob, 6, also from Hobart, will take a Walt Disney Cruise with his family. Prestin, an 11-year-old LaPorte boy, will swim with the dolphins.
