Paper shredding: Midwest Family Federal Credit Union is hosting a Community Shred Day from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19. A shredding truck will be on-site in the parking lot at 2832 Willowcreek Road. The free service is open to the public. There is a two-box shred limit per household.

Hospital donates: Porter Regional Hospital recently made donations to Lakeshore PAWS and the Porter County Cancer Society. Each group received $1,530, raised by the July 28 Healthy Hustle 5K Run-Walk on the grounds of the new hospital at 85 E. U.S. 6. The hospital’s associates nominated close to 100 not-for-profits, then voted for Lakeshore PAWS and the Cancer Society. Lakeshore finds homes for abandoned and abused animals. The Cancer Society provides financial aid and support to cancer patients.
