Parents workshops: The Gary Community School Corp. will conduct a series of workshops for parents of children with special needs. The first runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Marquette Elementary School, 6401 Hemlock Ave. The topic is “Frequently-asked Questions in Disabilities.” Call 881-5481.

Dinner-theater: The Gary Literacy Coalition Inc., a Methodist Hospital partnership, presents the play “Book Thief” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Genesis Convention Center, One Genesis Plaza.
