Leaf programs: The Lake County Solid Waste Management District offers two fall leaf programs for unincorporated areas of the county. The Leaf Vac Curbside Program provides collection of leaves raked to the curb in service in seven designated areas through Nov. 30,. Locations are: Calumet Township, Schererville Heights, Center Township, Lake Dalecarlia, Pine Ridge Lakes, Hobart Township, unincorporated Dyer, and possible ancillary areas. The Leaf Drop-Off Program allows residents to bring bagged leaves and branches for disposal through Dec. 3 at the following locations: Schererville Community Center, 1515 W. Lincolnway; Lake County Highway Department, Indiana 2 and U.S. 41, Lowell (open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday); Calumet Township Multi-Purpose Center, 1900 W. 41st Ave., Gary; and the Lake County Fairgrounds, 8898 S.
