Plant program
The Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service and the Northwest Indiana Floriculture Association are presenting a program for people in the plant nursery, greenhouse and retail garden center businesses from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Maday’s Wholesale Greenhouse, 2215 E. Richton Road, Crete, Ill. Colleen Warfield, plant pathologist at the Ball Horticultural Co., discusses downy mildew on impatiens. Patients’ choice
Cedar Lake resident Sarah Rock, a registered nurse in labor and delivery at MetroSouth Medical Center, Blue Island, Ill., was recently presented the hospital’s Patient Choice Award during 2012 National Nurses Week. Rock has worked as a nurse for eight years, six of them in labor and delivery. She received the most written nominations by patients during Nurses Week.
