Grant aids OE: Opportunity Enterprises has received a $5,000 grant from the Kankakee Valley REMC Operation Round Up. Opportunity Enterprises is in the midst of constructing a 19,000-square-foot addition to the day services facility at their Lakeside property on the shores of Lake Eliza, and the grant funding will go toward the purchase of an interactive smart board and projector for classroom instruction, as well as desktop computers with flat-screen monitors to enhance lab time for men and women with developmental disabilities.
Legal assistance: Indiana Legal Services will have an attorney at Lake Station’s Thomas A. Edison Junior Senior High School from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 21. The attorney is fluent in English and in Spanish. To receive help, a person must have a household income at or below $13,963 for a one-person household or $28,813 for a four-person household. Clients must be U.S. citizens or documented immigrants, except in certain limited circumstances. Call ILS in Merrillville at 738-6040 or (888) 255-5104 for information.
