Holiday for heroes: The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority is hosting a special event for all fire, police, emergency medical services personnel, military and Hoosier Helpers to say thank you for their service and dedication to our community and our country,
from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Indiana Welcome Center, 7770 Corinne Drive. The event includes light refreshments and free photos with Santa. Participants are asked to bring an identification card. Call 554-2229 for more information.

Be a Santa to a Senior program, runs through Dec. 7. Christmas trees with ornaments containing the first name of a senior citizen, along with his or her gift request, are available at the following locations:
