Holiday open house: The Humane Society of Northwest Indiana will have a holiday open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at 6100 Melton Road. Have your pet’s picture taken with Santa, and enjoy food, drinks, raffle gifts, door prizes and tours. You also may place an ornament on the Tree of Hope to help abused and neglected animals who make it to the shelter. For more information, visit millercritters.net.

Christmas Dinner Concert: The 29th annual Christmas Dinner Concert, featuring the Gary Civic Symphony and the Dinner Jazz Ensemble, is planned for 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at the Genesis Convention Center, 5th Avenue and Broadway. Doors will open at 5:45. Tickets are $35 per person, and are available at the Genesis Center Box office, 882-5505, or call the Gary Historical and Cultural Society at 882-6873 or 902-0524.
