Holiday gala: The Northern Indiana Missionary Baptist Educational District Association of the National Baptist Convention USA presents its holiday gala Friday, Dec. 14, at the Genesis Convention Center, 5th Avenue and Broadway. Scholarship ball: The Xinos (youth guidance group of high school young ladies), sponsored by the national sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Inc., Beta Mu chapter, is presenting its 43rd annual scholarship ball at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Avalon Manor Banquet Center, 3550 E. U.S. 30. The cost is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. All former Xinos are invited to attend at no cost. For tickets or more information, call 944-8313.

Acrylic painting: All skill levels can attend a youth art class to create a Christmas project of their choice. Classes will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Program Center at Sunset Hill Farm County Park, 775 Meridian Road. The cost is $5 for those bringing their own painting surfaces or $10 if the surface is provided by the instructor.
