Town forum: A town forum with U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky, D-Merrillville, will start at noon Saturday, Jan. 12, at the YWCA of Northwest Indiana, 150 W. 15th Ave.

Free tutoring: The African- American Achievers Youth Corps Inc., offers free tutoring to male students in grades four through 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Indiana University Northwest, Hawthorn Hall, Room 361, 3400 Broadway. Garden club meets: The Miller Garden Club will have a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, followed by a presentation from Beth Botts, at the Aquatorium Bath House in Marquette Park, 6918 Oak Ave. The topic is, “I Thought You Were Sleeping: What Happens in the Garden During Winter.” The event is free and open to the public.

Understanding your dreams: A workshop for people interested in the significance of dreams is scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Michigan City Public Library, 100 E. 4th St.
