Parent Math Night: The Gary Community School Corp. is sponsoring Parent Math Night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at each of the District’s high schools: West Side Leadership Academy, 900 W. Gerry St.; Lew Wallace Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics STEM Academy, 415 W. 45th Ave.; and Wirt-Emerson Visual and Performing Arts Academy, 210 N. Grand Blvd. Parents and 11th-graders will be informed about an ACT test preparation course designed to increase math scores that is available to college-bound juniors. Family fun fest: The Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana is having a family fun fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. The event is being held at the Girl Scouts Merrillville Program Center, 8699 Broadway. Admission is free.
