Outpatient office planned: Community Hospital announces plans to open an outpatient center in Schererville at the corner of U.S. 30 and Harvest Drive in June. Shopping benefits pets: The Kibble Kitchen pet pantry is selling Carson’s Community Day Booklets for a $5 donation. Presale booklets can be used in stores Saturday, March 2, and Sunday, March 3. Proceeds support the pantry and an upcoming spay/neuter assistance program. Booklets can be purchased on the organization’s website, www.thekibblekitchen.com, or from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 9, 10, 16 and 17) at Carson Pirie Scott in Westfield Southlake mall, U.S. 30 and Mississippi Street, Hobart.

Award winner: The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority was awarded first place for large show event poster during the marketing awards at the 2012 International Council of Air Shows convention. The convention was held Dec. 10 through 13 in Las Vegas.
