Legislative community forum: Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson hosts a legislative community forum from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Genesis Convention Center, Indiana Room, 5th Avenue and Broadway. The purpose of the forum is to provide an update on various Senate bills that affect local residents.

Beauty school visit: Prospective high school cosmetology students are invited to visit at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Don Roberts Beauty School, 1353 Lincolnway. A limited number of high school sophomores are selected for Porter County Career and Technical Education’s two-year cosmetology program. Students apply through their home school counselors at: Boone Grove, Chesterton, Hebron, Hobart, Kouts, Morgan Township, Portage, Valparaiso, Washington Township and Wheeler.
