Panel discussion: The Interfaith Clergy Council of Gary and Vicinity will host a panel discussion on Senate Bill 585, jobs and airport expansion from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Zion Progressive Cathedral International Inc., 1169 Connecticut St.

VALPARAISO

Fundraising event: The annual fundraising event “Celebration Night to Shine” to benefit Family House takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Strongbow Inn, 2405 U.S. 30. Tickets are $40; two for $75; and 10 for $300. Call 464-4160 for advance tickets. A limited number of tickets can be purchased at the door. Family House, located at 610 Glendale Blvd., serves Northwest Indiana families by providing a safe, home-like environment where non-custodial parents can spend supervised time with their children.

Spring fling adoption event: Second Chance 4 Pets Network and Boutique and Grooming are the sponsors for the event that takes place from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Hungry Hound store, 8243 Wicker Ave. Second Chance cats and dogs will be on hand to meet prospective adopters, and adoption applications will be available at the event.
