Grants fund equipment purchase: Porter County Community Foundation and the Legacy Foundation of Lake County have awarded NorthShore Health Centers grants to purchase equipment to provide assessments for uninsured and underinsured at-risk pregnant women to prevent preterm delivery/low birthweight babies. Early detection will allow doctors to determine if further medical intervention is needed and to help prevent preterm delivery. Both NorthShore’s Scottsdale Center in Portage and Lake Station Medical Center will have the equipment.
Home-business networking: Gayla Time Entertainment will host an Extreme Networking event from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the YWCA, 150 W. 15th Ave. for home-based business-to-business opportunities and services. Vendor event: A shopping event with a variety of vendors will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Avalon Manor, 3550 E. Route 30, Merrillville. A $1 admission fee, and proceeds from raffles, will be donated to Young Men On A Mission.
