Brickyard race: The 33rd annual Brickyard run is Thursday, July 4, at Hobart High School, 2211 E. 10th St. Registration and check-in is from 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m., and the races start at 7:30 a.m. Cost is $25 on race day. The Brickyard 5 Mile Run is a “Gold Cup Series” event for ages 15 and up. The Brickyard 5K race will be used for Gold Cup scoring for participants up to age 14. Free health checks: The Northwest Indiana Black Nurses Association provides free blood pressure checks and blood glucose testing the Saturday, July 6, first Saturday of the month, at the Gary Public Library, Brunswick Branch, 4030 W. Fifth Ave. For more information, call 944-9402.
Preschool movie series: Westchester Public Library’s preschool movie series will continue at 10 a.m. Friday, July 5, at the Hageman Public Library, 100 Francis St., with the film “Hooray for Huckle!
