‘Get on the Shelf’: TradeWinds Services, a local provider of services for children and adults with disabilities, is participating in Walmart’s “Get on the Shelf” contest, which earns winners the opportunity to place a product, for sale to the public, on area Walmart shelves. Tradewinds’ product is Scrub Puppies scouring pads. The packaging and sale of Scrub Puppies provide jobs for adults with varying abilities. Net profits from Scrub Puppy sales are invested into training and employment programs for people with disabilities who are under-employed and need special training to develop work skills. Members of the public can help TradeWinds by going to the “Walmart Get on the Shelf” website at getontheshelf.walmart.com/product/1d5a/Scrub-Puppy, logging into Facebook as prompted, and clicking on “VOTE” for Scrub Puppy. Daily votes will be accepted through Sept. 2.
