Rain barrels available: The Merrillville Stormwater Utility office is selling rain barrel through UpCycle Products, Inc. Order forms for the 55-gallon barrels are available at the Stormwater Utility office, 9111 Broadway, Suite C; Town Hall, 7820 Broadway; the Public Works office, 13 West 73rd Ave.; the Pruzin Center, 5750 Tyler St.; online at www.upcycle-products.com; or by calling (815) 735-9583. The pickup time is 3 to 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Public Works office. The order deadline is Sept. 5. The cost is $51 for blue or gray, and $56 for terra cotta or gray. There is a $2.50 processing fee for credit card purchases.
Collecting peanut butter: Credit unions across the region have teamed up to Spread the Love by collecting donations of peanut butter and other non-perishable food items through Aug. 31.
