Input sought in superintendent search: The Munster Board of School Trustees is seeking community input as it begins the task of replacing current superintendent Richard Sopko, who will retire on June 30, 2014. Comments from the public will be welcome at the Sept. 9 and Oct. 14 school board meetings at 7 p.m. at the Administration Center, 8616 Columbia Ave. The board is inviting input into the process from faculty, staff, parents and residents. Board members have attended faculty meetings to speak with teachers and will be attending PTO meetings to speak with parents.

USF sees enrollment increase: The University of Saint Francis Crown Point welcomed a record number of students again this fall, President Sister M. Elise Kriss announced in an opening convocation and Mass. Enrollment is more than 200 students, including 68 new students, an increase of nearly 15 percent over last year. Kriss attributed the increase to a number of factors, including offering completely online courses through the university’s Virtual Campus.
