Vendors needed: The city is looking for craft vendors for the Winter Market, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 30 at the old Lake County Courthouse, 1 N. Courthouse Square. The application is available at www.crownpoint.in.gov. The Winter Market offers holiday crafts, gift baskets, jewelry, homemade items, baked goods, seasonal coffees, Christmas trees and other items. CHESTERTON

Philanthropy awards: The Association of Fund Raising Professionals Indiana Northwest Chapter will host a National Philanthropy Day luncheon and program from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 at Sand Creek Country Club, 1001 S. Clubhouse Dr. in Chesterton. The 2013 honorees are Susan Cohen of Sojourner Truth House, Strack & VanTil, and the Foundations of East Chicago. Tickets are $35 for AFP members and $50 for non-members. COO named: Jeremy Miller has been appointed Lake Area United Way’s chief operating officer. Previously, Miller was a regional vice president for Centier Bank. He received his B.S. in Finance from Purdue University and his M.B.A. from the Keller School of Management.
