Snowy weather puts schedules in disarray
February 5, 2014 2:20PM
This has been quite the winter! Just when I think my family’s schedule is getting back to normal, we are hit with another snow event.
School closings, delayed start times and being homebound is now the new normal around our household. Being home more does have its perks: family game nights, movie nights and I’m finally able to make all those recipes I’ve been watching on the Food Network!
Our unpredictable weather is causing some events around town to be postponed and rescheduled, so everyone is able to attend in a safe manner.
Community Athletic Program open house: The CAP Open House has been re-scheduled for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18.
This is an opportunity for Hobart families to come out and experience the CAP program. Multiple activities will be going on in both gyms including basketball, volleyball, soccer, dodge ball, as well as a bouncy house!
Refreshments, music, door prizes, local organizations set up throughout the lobby, as well as K-9 demonstrations.
The Community Athletic Program is a volunteer- and donation-based program sponsored by the Hobart Police Department and other Hobart city officials. CAP targets Hobart youth between sixth and 12th grade.
Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast: The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast has been re-scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Augustana Lutheran Church, 205 Kelly St. Hobart First United Methodist Church Pastor Rebecca Lynn Smith will be the keynote speaker.
Tickets are $10. To purchase tickets or for more information, contact Rev. Charles Strietelmeier at 942-3574.
