History exhibit: To mark Women’s History Month, the Porter County Museum is unveiling “Making Her Place,” its first-ever women’s history exhibit. An open house for the exhibit featuring refreshments is scheduled to take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the museum, 153 S. Franklin St. The event is to include a brief talk introducing inspirational stories from the exhibit. At 2 p.m., Great Lakes Sound Chorus is scheduled to sing suffragette songs. Porter Township

Softball leagues: The Portage Township Department of Parks & Recreation is accepting registrations for women’s and men’s softball leagues on the Fessler Fields at Haven Hollow Park (330 W. 700 N., Valparaiso). Leagues begin the week of May 5, with game times starting at 6 p.m. An eight-week, 16-game women’s league will feature games on Tuesdays. An eight-week, 16-game men’s league with upper and lower divisions with play on Mondays and Wednesdays. Players must be 18 or older, and the registration fee is $475 per team.
