This is the last weekend to catch “How a Grouch Stole Gospel!” at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15 at the West Side Theatre Guild, 9th and Gerry Street.

Tickets are $25 each night and can be purchased online at www.4grouch.com or by calling (855) 447-6824.

† Wirt-Emerson dance instructor Larry Brewer is giving the community a great Christmas present with free performances of “The Urban Nutcracker” at 1 and 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, and at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Wirt-Emerson Visual and Performing Arts High Ability Academy, 210 N. Grand Blvd.

If you’ve not seen this holiday performance this is your chance. I still have a poster from the 2005 performance with a green sneaker laced with red-and-white shoe laces dangling alongside a pink ballet slipper.

The reception is at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7. Call the Genesis Center at 882-5505 or Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at 882-9339 for tickets.

More than 40 vendors and local and regional crafters will participate in the bazaar. There will also be a chance to give back to the community with a Mitten Tree on display.

The Mitten Tree is for donations of socks, gloves, scarves, hats and, of course, mittens that will support local shelters for homeless women and their children, and victims of domestic violence.

Donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14. For more information, call 938-7362 or email events@marquetteparkgary.com or eventsbytiffaney@gmail.com.
