An unknown man appears to be stalking a 9-year-old girl from Salt Creek Commons in Porter County.
The girl first noticed the man in a dark car at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday as she played with a friend in her front yard, in the 400 block of Sassafras Drive. According to the police report, he drove slowly past the home several times, possibly in a Pontiac Grand Am, with dark windows and silver trim; on the third pass, he stopped to smile and wink at her. The girl ran inside to tell her older brother, who reported seeing the car quickly back down the street as soon as he came outside.
Then at about 10 a.m. Friday, the girl told police, the same car drove by twice as she waited at her bus stop. The dark car made another appearance at about 6:45 p.m. Monday, stopping for a short time in front of the girl’s home.
The girl told police the man has a brown mustache and black goatee, and the time she got a good look at him, he was wearing a red and orange bandanna around his forehead with a black hat worn backward on top.
