A Hobart man died Monday, more than a week after he was found facedown in a pool of blood after falling off a tractor and being run over by the machine as he plowed snow in his driveway.
John E. Williams, 50, 555 County Line Road, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Ill., at 1:30 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Williams died after being severely injured while plowing snow, according to a report from the Porter County Sheriff’s Department.
Police were called to Williams’ home about 4 p.m. on Jan. 22 after his roommate found him lying facedown in the snow with a large pool of blood near his head, the report said.
Medical staff told police William suffered severe head trauma and brain bleeding. Bleeding from the ear and vomit was consistent with severe head trauma, the report said.
It appears Williams fell off the tractor and was run over or dragged, causing severe injuries. Police said nothing at the scene indicated foul play.
