WESTVILLE — A truck driver making a delivery to Westville Correctional Facility allegedly intended to include contraband cell phones in the shipment.
Dario Sanchez, 37, of Chicago, was arrested Friday morning for Class C felony trafficking. Sanchez was booked at the LaPorte County Jail and, if convicted, he could be sentenced to two to eight years in prison.
According to a press release from the prison, the phones were found during a search of the cab of Sanchez’s truck.
Upon further investigation, Westville inmate Arturo Camarena was placed in segregation so he could be question by internal affairs, according to a statement from the prison. Camarena, 35, of Mexico, is serving a 20-year sentence for dealing cocaine.
He was convicted in Shelby County and was projected to be released from the prison and transferred to the U.S. Immigration Office’s custody in August 2013.
