3 boys face charges for sidewalk marks
Three juvenile males — ages 12, 13 and 17 — are charged with criminal mischief for writing their initials and drawing symbols in a freshly poured sidewalk at the corner of Franklin and Jefferson streets.
An officer found the three Valparaiso boys soon after a complaint was made at about 6:40 p.m. Monday. After initially denying responsibility for the damage, they admitted to it, saying they thought it was cool, according to the police report.
Repairs will cost an estimated $500.
Cops: Woman lied about robbery
A Portage woman who told police on May 13 that she was robbed while pumping gas has been charged with misdemeanor false informing about the incident.
Originally, Gabrielle Shinall, 19, told police she was the victim of an armed robbery at gas station on U.S. 20. After a detective reviewed surveillance video and spoke with employees and Shinall, police determined the robbery was fabricated.
Shinall admitted she didn’t want to pay for unauthorized charges she said her cousins made on her debit card so she made up the robbery story.
