The door to a residence was kicked in by an unknown person between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of East County Road 200S, in Morgan Township. Jewelry and blank checks were among the property stolen, according to the police report.

An unknown person broke into a home — by opening a kitchen window above the sink — between noon and 2 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of South County Road 500W, in Porter Township. An iPad was taken, police said.

Neighbors reported fight over drugs

Police were called at about 10:30 p.m. by residents of the 100 block of Jamestown Avenue, in Washington Township, who said some new neighbors were fighting about crack.

Tina Lien, 49, was arrested for misdemeanor battery after telling police she went “into an uproar” when her boyfriend and a 60-year-old homeless man made a drug deal at the home. She allegedly dumped food on the 60-year-old man and hit him in the face, police said. Her 61-year-old boyfriend left the scene before officers arrived.

VALPARAISO

Man hit woman
for spanking child

Vu Nguyen, 37, was arrested for felony domestic battery in the presence of a child, at about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, for allegedly hitting his 34-year-old wife at their home, in the 1800 block of Dainesway. Nguyen admitted slapping the woman across the face, leaving a mark, because he did not agree with her spanking their toddler, police said.
