$2,300 cash stolen from business
Gary-Hobart Roofing & Supply, at 401 E. U.S. 30, in Washington Township, was reported broken into between 4:30 p.m. Friday and 6:30 a.m. Saturday. The back door of the business and a safe in an office were pried open, and $2,300 was missing, police said.
Teen batters younger co-worker
Kyle Slease, 18, of South Haven, was arrested for allegedly battering a 16-year-old co-worker, causing facial injuries. Their employer was driving them home to South Haven when the two started arguing, and Slease punched the boy numerous times, the victim and the employer told police. Slease then was ordered out of the vehicle, at about 1:45 a.m. Monday, in the area of County Road 475W and U.S. 30, and police could not find him when the incident was reported.
Vehicles reported stolen in two cases
A maroon 1994 Dodge Ram, worth $2,000, was reported stolen between Thursday and Saturday from an unlocked barn in the 1200 block of North LaPorte/Porter County Line Road.
An unlocked silver 2001 Dodge Caravan, worth $3,400, was reported stolen between 9 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday from outside a home in the 1200 block of Burlington Beach Road.
Lack of turn signal leads to arrest
Robert Dorrance, 35, of South Haven, was arrested for driving while a habitual traffic offender, a felony charge, during a 12:20 p.m. Sunday traffic stop at U.S. 6 and Airport Road. He was stopped for failing to use his turn signal, police said.

Abusive father said son was dramatic
Peter StMary, 57, was arrested for allegedly attacking his 14-year-old son for missing his 10:30 p.m. curfew on Thursday. When the boy returned at midnight to the home, in the 1600 block of Cove Trail, StMary allegedly punched him in the throat. The boy fell to the ground and StMary got on top of him and choked him while screaming, “Where were you?” the boy’s mother told police. StMary also reportedly used a computer cord to whip the boy in the hip several times and the boy struck him as well after being told to “get up and fight,” according to the police report.
StMary was arrested at another location for battery and strangulation. He admitted to the battery but said his son “was being over dramatic,” police said.

Woman with meth arrested in car
Crystal Williams, 27, of Knox, was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor trespassing after being found sleeping just before 6 a.m. Sunday in her car, in the Walgreens parking lot at 1903 Calumet.
