PORTER COUNTY

Thief drove skid loader away

A $50,000 construction vehicle was stolen from A&M Farm Center, at 300 S. Indiana 49, in Morgan Township. Between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday, the perpetrator pried up and crawled under a chain-link fence to get to the parking lot containing the yellow-and-black John Deere skid loader, according to police. The skid loader was driven out of the parking lot, over a wooden post, through a ditch and then south on Indiana 49.

Man arrested for domestic battery

Jesse Hall, 47, was arrested for domestic battery for an incident at about 12:15 a.m. Friday, at his home in the 3600 block of Chimney Hill Court, north of Valparaiso. Hall allegedly punched his 45-year-old wife in the jaw during an argument; he said he only pushed her away, but police did not believe that would account for her injuries. Police said both Hall and the victim were intoxicated.

Woman accused of attacking mother

Twyla Woodland, 39, of rural Hebron, was arrested for allegedly battering her 58-year-old mother. At about 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the victim’s home, where Woodland also lives in the 300 block of South Indiana 2, Woodland reportedly grabbed the older woman’s hair and scratched her neck during an argument. Woodland told police the victim started the physical fight because she had a problem with her blouse. The victim said the disagreement was about Woodland consuming pills in the home and the victim having custody of Woodland’s children.
