Wheels stolen off two vehicles
Two Andover Apartment residents reported all four wheels were stolen off their vehicles overnight Friday. Both vehicles had been parked in carports on the east side of 354 Andover Drive. The vehicles were left supported by plastic crates at each corner, police said. The losses are estimated at $3,400.
Guns, TV taken in home burglary
A house was burglarized between 10:30 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Center Street. A television, a .22 rifle, a compound bow and two BB guns were reported stolen. A window had been pushed open and its screen removed. It is unknown if the window was locked before the theft, but the owner told police all the blinds had been open when he left but were closed when he discovered the burglary.
Police have information on a possible juvenile suspect.
New man punched woman’s husband
Woodrow “Jay” McGuire, 25, of Gary, was arrested for allegedly battering his girlfriend’s estranged husband. The 36-year-old victim told police that at about 5:55 p.m. Saturday, he was talking with his wife in her vehicle parked in front of his home, in the 600 block of Parkside Avenue. McGuire drove up and they argued, and McGuire allegedly punched the husband repeatedly in the nose, both the victim and his wife told police.

Poke followed by punch in the nose
John Bender, 49, of South Haven, was arrested for felony domestic battery after allegedly punching a 45-year-old twice in the nose in response to her poking him in the chest with one finger during an argument. Seeing this, the woman’s 13-year-old son grabbed a hammer and went after Bender, who put the boy in a headlock. Police said the fight happened at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 700 block of Imperial Road.

Runaway teen threatened police
A 17-year-old was arrested for misdemeanor battery, resisting law enforcement and felony intimidation after his father reported him as a runaway on Friday. Officers found the teen at about 3:15 p.m. walking on County Road 550W, soon after he left his Union Township home after punching his 46-year-old father. The teen refused to let police take him home and resisted officers until they took him to the ground and put him in handcuffs; he then allegedly said twice he would have a friend kill the officers. He was taken to the Porter County Juvenile Detention Center.
