Stuffed deer antlers broken by ex

A 38-year-old man reported his ex-girlfriend damaged a stuffed deer head and torso when she dropped off his belongings at the home he is staying at, in the 1000 block of Broadway. The 39-year-old Michigan City woman reportedly left the deer, a stuffed beaver and a bag of belts outside the home at about 7:50 p.m. Wednesday. The antlers had been broken from the skull, according to the police report.

Two men arrested for shoplifting

Two men were arrested just after 6 p.m. Thursday for allegedly stealing incense, oil and a magnet, worth $22.80 all together, from Lifestyles, at 122 Lincolnway. Kristopher Henderson, 30, of South Bend, and Eric Nevers, 34, of Valparaiso, both are charged with felony theft.

PORTAGE

Drunken driving crackdown starts

Portage police are participating in the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign through Sept. 7. During last year’s Labor Day crackdown, police across Indiana made 965 drunken driving arrests, according to a press release from the Portage Police Department.
