Adrean Shepherd, 33, was arrested at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday for felony battery after allegedly injuring a 16-year-old female relative during a fight at Shepherd’s home, in the 700 block of Capitol Road.
The teen told police Shepherd followed her from room to room as she punched the back of the head and scratched her back, neck and arms.
Shepherd told police their argument never turned physical and the teen gave herself the bruises and scratches. However, a 10-year-old witness said he saw Shepherd “pounding on” the younger woman, according to the police report.
Man returns items he never bought
Jason Lenz, 29, of Portage, was arrested at about 8:35 p.m. Wednesday for felony theft at Menard’s, 6220 U.S. 6. According to the police report, Lenz allegedly walked into the store empty-handed, took a cart, put several items in it and then attempted to “return” them for $90.70 in store credit.
When confronted, Lenz told police the surveillance video must have been blurry if they could not see he was pushing a cart containing the items when he entered the store.
