VALPARAISO — Porter County Sheriff’s Police arrested two young men after receiving a tip on their allegedly being involved in more than 20 thefts from vehicles in neighborhoods just north of Valparaiso.
When questioned by investigators, Derek Brettin, 20, of Valparaiso, and Christopher Klym, 19, of unincorporated Porter County near the area of the crimes, admitted to the thefts, said Sgt. Larry LaFlower, Sheriff’s Department public information officer. They returned the stolen property.
Each was booked at the Porter County Jail at about 3:30 p.m. Monday on a charge of felony theft.
Residents of the Flint Lake and Burlington Beach neighbors reported more than 20 unlocked vehicles had been entered late on Sept. 29 and early Sept. 30, with thousands of dollars-worth of property stolen, plus damages to dashboards as stereos were removed
