PORTER COUNTY

18-year-old attacked by
younger teen in trailer park

An 18-year-old man told police he was attacked by one of three males who approached him at about 6 p.m. Tuesday outside his home on Rushingwater Drive, in a trailer park in unincorporated Portage Township.

The group seemingly believed the victim was showing too much interest in the girlfriend of one of the males. The suspect, believed to be 15 years old, according to the police report, allegedly threw the 18-year-old to the ground in the road, held him down by the neck and punched him in the face several times until a relative of the victim threatened to call police.

The victim complained of neck pain and was taken by ambulance to the emergency room.

Dog may have thwarted burglary attempt

An unknown person attempted to get into a home in the 3800 block of Chimney Hill Drive, taking the screen off a window to the basement and breaking the glass between Oct. 3 and Tuesday.

The owner told police he is unsure if the person got inside but nothing was taken, so he believed his dog could have scared away the culprit.

VALPARAISO

Woman charged in battery for allegedly biting man

Roseann Dye, 33, was arrested for domestic battery shortly after leaving her home, in the 2000 block of St. Joseph Lane, where she allegedly bit a 31-year-old man during an argument at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Both Dye and the victim had been drinking alcohol and shoving each other, he told police, but he was the only one injured.

He had a fresh bite mark between his shoulder blades and a partially healed bite mark on his arm from an earlier incident police said. The battery charge is a felony because it allegedly occurred in front of a 14-year-old, who was a passenger of Dye’s vehicle when she was arrested.
