A Portage man has a trial date of April 8 for allegedly molesting a 4-year-old girl.

Daniel J. Chvilicek, 28, also had bail bond set at $50,000 Thursday for Class A felony child molesting and Class C felony child molesting, and Porter Superior Judge Roger Bradford appointed a public defender.

Chvilicek faces up to 50 years in prison on the first count and up to eight years on the second.

He called police Oct. 2 and said his girlfriend had kicked him out because she said they found his name on a sex offender registry, which he denied, court records state.

When his call was disconnected, the alleged victim’s family called police and made accusations, which the girl confirmed to investigators.

Chvilicek received a public defender Thursday.
