Home detention for attempted bribe

The Knox man who attempted to bribe the license examiner who failed him on a commercial driver’s license test will spend 90 days on home detention.

Emmanuel Tepes, 26, originally faced a sentence of up to eight years for Class C felony bribery before pleading to Class D felony forgery on Aug. 24.

Tepes will be on probation for the remainder of the three-year sentence he received Friday.

He failed the practical part of the CDL test on Jan. 25 and called the instructor the next day to ask what it would take for the test to be “off the charts” and “flexible.”

The examiner contacted Indiana State Police, who placed a bug on the examiner Jan. 27 when Tepes returned to retake the test and offered a $1,500 bribe.
