Man accused of stealing wallet with $800 inside

A Porter County woman told police she saw the man who broke into her home on Oct. 13 while he was near her daughter’s bedroom door and talked with him before he decided to leave.

The woman also told police she knew Bruce A. Stanley, 22, of Valparaiso, who is now charged with Class B felony burglary and faces up to 20 years in prison.

Stanley allegedly took a wallet with $800 and other items not specifically identified in court records.

The Porter County Jail did not list him as an inmate as of Saturday, but Stanley would be held without bond because he is on bond in another court on another charge.

Fox Chase Farm sewage system fix ordered

The mound system of treating sewage and human waste at Fox Chase Farm subdivision in Porter County will no longer remain in operation, and Centurian Utilities will have to haul the material away to be treated elsewhere.

Porter Couty Superior Court Judge William Alexa issued a preliminary injunction against Centurian on behalf of the Indiana State Health Department on Friday.

Centurian is listed as the defendant and operator of the treatment center, located along Meridian Road near County Road 700N.

Testimony included photos of children’s play areas and streets inundated with human feces from overflow from the treatment system.

Having the waste hauled away is a short-term solution. Centurian will likely either have make repairs to its system or become part of a neighboring system, such as the Damon Run Conservancy District.
